you never know what the new and upcoming thing is if you are it...

i mean, Lily Allen got her own tv show, tho it failed miserably, if a trainwreck like her can get one...

LOL it's always nice to dream!

^ Gosh some British talk shows can fail miserably. TV over here can be quite hit and miss in general but the hits can make up for the misses. We have a singer Charlotte Church who has a talk show and I don't rate her that much as a talk show host. We also have Jonathan Ross who I admit can have some good interviews but I personally don't find him that funny. He's been suspended by the BBC though until next month (long story, involves Russell Brand, a Fawlty Towers actor and his granddaughter and 30,000 complaints). I know I wouldn't have the ability to have my own show but there is a gap in the market for a good talk show in the UK I reckon...Spune? Or maybe someone fancies hopping on a plane to the UK? Wink

I've heard of Rove, does seem to be very popular in Australia.

I'd love to have a TV show but I don't think I'm the presenting type. I doubt I could do life TV... I'm too shy and awkward. I like improvised comedy but ... for example ... I couldn't really go on a panel show. Never Mind the Buzzcocks would be the exception... I think a lot of that is scripted anyway so hey! Very Happy

I like Jonathan Ross's show. It's not so much him but he did get great guests and I found him better than Parkinson who didn't really ask any questions.

A lot of new presenters are like Russel Brand or Alec Zane. They're all hip and funky. I think there is a gap in the market for... well... normal people. People that don't have 'hair cuts' and wear the right size jeans.

Cool. You never know, once you're out there and start building your confidence you may do well on those kind of panel shows or a talk show. Not every comedian is suited to those kind of shows anyway. There are quite a lot of these panel shows on TV at the moment, they are cool to watch though.

True, Jonathan does get good guests which can make his shows good viewing. And the interviews can be quite relaxed.

Yep there seems to be a lot of 'hip, Indie' presenters these days. I randomly saw Alex Zane in Chinatown in London not too long ago lol. But they're not suited to having their own talk show, more like T4 on a Sunday morning etc which can suit them.

I'd love to be a TV presenter, but mainly based in Australia. Hell if rejects from Australian Idol and Big Brother can score amazing TV jobs why can't I? I'm confident and my friends think i have a good personality but meh. Its a great dream, but its not gonna happen.

LOL it's amazing what a little bit of airtime can do for the American Idols (or Australian Idols). They get thier 15 minutes of fame, and then the networks suck every last bit of entertainment out of them as they can, getting the last dollar.

They are using Carrie underwood for advertising A.I.'s new season here. It's basically like, "look, we made her and you love her and you want to be her so try out for the show and become the next her" subliminal messaging like whoa

i hate that show. except the auditions! I love it when they have someone who is obviously there just to get thier 5 minutes and know they can't sing. They completely bomb the audition but just want to say "i tried out"

Its like that stupid Ikky Lee. Her name is Rickie Lee but i call her Ikky Lee because i can't stand her, the chick who presented with Chris at the ARIAS this year. Everyone was like "why are they teaming them 2 up? One is talented, the other is a joke."

I think its cause Australia has a small population we tend to rate C list celebrities as A list.

I don't mind AI. This years winner Wes Carr is such a nice guy. I met him at the AFI awards and he was the nicest guy. I just don't like it when 10 runner up contestants score record deals as well....kinda defeats the purpose of the whole show. And the fact they "outshine" all the hard working real bands/artists that are trying to break through into the music industry the right way, rather then with an easy ride like going on AI.

The only real AI contestant i love is Jessica Mauboy. She came runner up in 2006 and since then lost heaps of weight, sexed up her image and got with Flo-Rida. She worked REALLY hard to get to this so she deserves all the credit in the world IMO.

Sorry to sound like a negative bitch but they're soooooo overrated its not funny. :/

I have to admit I LOVE hamish and andy and they were my favourite comedians until Chris came alone Smile But they're my second favourite now. I still like them.

I don't mind Hamish. I think hes a nice guy and he gives good advice in Cosmo haha. But i reckon Andy seems really up himself. They tried too hard at the ARIAS i reckon to be funny. They're better off on radio.

I know this sounds weird but i think alot of people are kinda 'brainwashed' into liking them and Rove and other mainstream comedians because they're featured on mainstream TV and are 'fed to us' as funny. We have wayyyy funnier and talented comedians like Paul Fenech from Fat Pizza who writes, producers, stars in and directs the show. But since Fat Pizza isn't on a mainstream channel like 7 or 10 not alot of people tune into it. As i said, its weird but thats what i reckon. Very overrated anyway that mainstream crap. So glad Chris is sticking with ABC.

he might have a contract for multiple shows with ABC. He's also probably got damn good management that would advise him to stick with a network that will allow him to do what wants (to an extent). wonder how far he'll push it

^True but since he's getting very popular i wont be suprised if a bigger TV channel like 7 or 10 try to snatch him for big $$$. But i think Chris is smart enough to turn them down. Screw the money Chris, you'll still be richer then i'll ever be hahaha.

True. But Kath and Kim are ABC and they're still more famous. I know what you mean though, but I do find them funny, especially Peter Helliar - he's an exception.
