Yes amazing and Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night". My god when Kurt screams at the end i still get shivers everytime i hear it.
True that Mayer is a douche but that is a terrific cover.

Whew! Glad I didn't have to go toe-to-toe about Van Halen v. Mayer lol.
But as a guitarist I'm pretty sure you'd already know that Van Halen is a god with a six-string!

Re: Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett Pass Away
FOB did a good job with Beat It, as did AAF with Smooth Criminal and a few other covers out there. Obviously there'll be comparisons with the originals because they are simply classics but there's nothing wrong with people wishing to do covers as long as they don't massacre the original haha

And Vi, are you referring to Man Who Sold the World?
Apparently Bowie hates that younger fans tell him that they're glad that he "performed a Nirvana song at his concert"
omg SECONDED!! van halen =

It doesn't bother me so much because i'm not a fan of MJ. But i'm just talking from experience when i've had people go to me "omg i love Nirvana too. Smells Like Teen Spirit is like totally their best song" when really its pretty damn obvious they don't have a clue about them. Don't lie and say stuff to fit in because its very insulting to true fans.
Music is the best thing ever invented. Its better then TV, better then the internet. Please for the love of god explore as much of it as you possibly can while you can!!
Clearly About a Girl is. I can still remember the first time I heard that song, on JJJ many years ago.
I had never really liked MJ, I liked Beat It and Thirller (the video scared the shit out me as a kid though), but by the time I was at an age to appreciate music he'd already gone wacko. Although, having grown older and learn't about his impact on the music industry, I'd gained respect for him as a musician and an entertainer, but not as a public figure. That's my view on the situation anyway.
Oh yes, About A Girl was one of the first songs I heard by them and absolutely loved the unplugged performance, so I will always remain especially fond of that. Also I just want to tell you I'm a Bowie fan too.
I love the Michael Jackson photo frame you bought Donna, such beautiful pictures and one of his drawings in there too, he was very talented.

Re: Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett Pass Away
Thanks Summer
Did you say he drew that? Do you know if that was his actual drawing? I know it was his handwriting but I wasn't sure if he drew that coz it looked so perfect.. wow. OK add 'poet' and 'artist' to his list of professions now if he did. LOL.
There were a few to choose from and I ended up picking that one because of the poem he wrote (which double as the lyrics in his song 'Childhood') in his handwriting and I thought that was REALLY interesting. The poem goes:
"Before you judge me, Try hard to love me, Look within your heart then ask, Have you seen my childhood."
I don't really know anything about Nirvana so I'm not gonna pretend like I do. The only songs of theirs that I have are Smells Like Teen Spirit, About A Girl and Heart Shaped Box. But I've only ever really listened to Smells Like Teen Spirit... that's the only song I like. The other ones are OK I guess but I've never really been a fan.

I know he used to draw and maybe paint and I know I've definitely seen it before, in a book or something. I'm sure he drew it.

Have you heard the song 'The Lost Children' on his Invincible album? It's a beautiful song, the lyrics include...
"When you lay me down sleeping,
my heart is weeping,
because I'm keeping,
a place for all the lost children."

Re: Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett Pass Away
Nice knowing you lol.
You didn't confuse the English band that is named Nirvana for the Nirvana we were talking about have you?
From what I've heard the UK Nirvana were pretty good, they were very influential on the Who.

I'd actually prefer someone of your "well being" not to be fan. So in attempt to get me fired up, you failed.

Wacko Jacko sucked after 1990. Throwing out my opinion. I've held my tongue, but now you've said that we have our own opinions and aren't gonna hold them out of respect for others I'm saying that he went shit. He shoulda given up. Thriller was incredible, Bad was great. But as Eminem once said "you're too old, it's over, nobody listens to..." Wacko Jacko.

Heather in all honesty i couldn't care less what music you like and what music you don't like. Really. What i don't like are poor insults thrown at me.
Truthfully i don't think you really had an opinion on Nirvana at all before you joined these forums, and are only saying that to take a shot at me especially with the "my opinion" mark hence i've said that in defense to my negativity towards Michael Jackson. Love i'm the same age as you. I know how the mind of a girl our age works.
I've made a Nirvana thread in the music section, please feel free to leave your "opinion" there. This thread is about MJ. I've just mentioned Kurt a few times as he can relate to MJ and other musicians who have passed away way too young and have had bad press centered around them during their careers, and in Kurt's case, a long time after death as well.
Anyway, if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. As admin i have no issue with people saying want they want about Michael, good or bad, same goes with any other musician/actor. I'm totally all for free speech, but when/if it comes down to personal insults towards other members, i will not tolerate it.
