SHH on HBO

Post by Chrissy on Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:39 am

I fell asleep watching HBO last night and woke up a little after midnight to find them replaying Episode 3... hahaha!
I was so happy and I think I fell back to sleep smiling.

Whats the deal with HBO exactly? Is it one channel or several? And is it a channel you have to pay extra for?
Plus how can one channel have so many AWESOME shows?
Deadwood, Entourage, FotC, The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm the list goes on.

HBO is one channel, however they have like sub-channels. There is HBO-E (east coast) HBO-W (west coast) HBO-LT (same as what's playing on E & W except in Spanish). There might be a few others, but they are basically playing the same thing.

They have awesome shows because it is a pay service, therefore they have more flexibility with what they can air. Technically, you don't pay for basic channels (I think with the new digital converter box you can still plug in your tv and get the basic ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and PBS). Those channels are 'free' so they have to be more careful with what they do, except with each new show, the boundaries are broken down little by little. The taboos are starting to fade. pretty soon,e veryone will be desensitized and there won't be a show that doesn't show full frontal nudity, money shots, and The Carlin 7 Laughing

I subsribe to HBO and receive the main channel in high def plus 7 other HBO channels (basically replay the same stuff, but some are more comedy or family centered) plus can see the shows when I want ON DEMAND.

From wikipedia
HBO (long name Home Box Office) is a premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner. It offers two 24-hour pay television services (HBO and Cinemax) to over 38 million U.S. subscribers. The services include the subscription video on demand products, HBO On Demand and Cinemax On Demand, as well as multiplex channels and HD feeds. Internationally the subscription video on demand products HBO On Demand and HBO Mobile, along with HBO branded joint ventures, bring its services to over 50 countries. HBO programming is broadcast into over 150 countries worldwide.

Yes, HBO is quite dandy (for the mere fact that they play "Summer Heights High" and are involved with Chris's new series.)
