Post by Violet on Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:38 pm

Sorry im just bored so i thought i'd post these songs that were featured on SHH.

Stephanie McIntosh - Mistake (Ja'mie's school formal assembly performance)
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=qJCGgWEo6aQ

God awful song. Shes so hot Steph but she can not sing for shit.

Niki Webster - Strawberry Kisses (Jonah's school dance)
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=jNKLn0A-1CM

Even worse! Gah i hate Niki Webster.

Remember them at all?

LOL not a clue who they are, but I can see why they would be popular songs. They've got catchy lyrics and have a cute gal dancing along...it's whatever makes the money and attracts the most people. Usually the 10-15 crowd since they are the most impressionable.

I.E. Britney Spears Mad I'm going to guess that ^^those 2 could be compared with her? Not the crazy personal life, but the career

^That Niki Webster song was popular for all the wrong reasons haha. No one could stand her part from little 7 year olds. Chris mocking her is kinda old now cause we all mocked her back in the days, but its good to refresh memories haha.

That Steph chick is just bad. Thats the problem with those Neighbours chicks, ever since Kylie Minogue became a international famous singer they all think they can sing too. The only one who can sing from that show was Delta Goodrem.

It probably makes it funnier that they have Niki Webster. I don't know who she is but if everyone mocked her when she was popular I think Chris did a funny thing by bringing the song back. It makes Summer Heights High (the school) seem that little bit more run down. I'm just thinking of British singers that that could work for...

For foreign viewers, although we don't get the specific song reference, I did recognise the style of those songs being pitch-perfect for the characters and situation.

^Oh deffo. Hey $10 Niki Webster was happy someone actually still acknowledged her, bad or good. She was sick of people hating on her so she posed for a bunch of mens magazines last year to show everyone "how grown up" she was. Too bad she still looks like a 12 year old. I think shes like a year or something older then me. Great decision there love, i'm sure your parents are soooo proud of you. Rolling Eyes

That Mistake song was kinda popular, it got played on the radio a bit and was in the top 20, but it was definitely a teenie bopper song so Chris got it right with Ja'mie and the other girls liking it. I hated that song though. I'm not really into a lot of pop music but i remember at school, some of the skanky bitchy girls liked it.

Agreed. It's quite interesting though hearing the full story on little references that perhaps are aimed at Australians.

I'm listening to "Mistake" by Stephanie McIntosh right now... it just reminds me of Ja'mie and her friends dancing maniacally on stage... I love it

As for Cinderella by Shakaya, I just downloaded that song today... it's a perfect song choice for that episode of WCBH. I love it too!!

I was reading through some of the Youtube comments (i was bored okay? LOL) and a lot of people were saying "I remember this song now after watching SHH" and stuff. Quite assuming.

Anyway, hate the song but it suits a clueless bimbo like Ja'mie dancing around to it.

Didn't mind that Shakaya song. Actually they had some decent songs from what i remember. I liked "Sublime". Shame they broke up.

It's cool that people now associate those songs with SHH and WCBH. They fit the situations so well Smile

Niki Webster does not suit Jonah, maybe Hilltop Hoods or Bliss N Eso (Aussie hip hop groups) but not Niki Webster. She does not suit anyone or anything.

Hmmm what other other old Aussie bands could he revive?

I'll have to have a think about it.

Im at work and Youtube is blocked but have a search for this Aussie classic. The Hoodoo Gurus "What's My Scene". Its featured at the BBQ Phil is having. Classic song. Grew up with it playing in the household cause my dad is a big fan of them.

ROFL.

Niki Webster's Strawberry Kisses was voted the 5th worst Australian song of all time in a recent pole:

5. Nikki Webster: Strawberry Kisses
POOR Nikki wanted to be a pop star after her Olympic glory. She was ahead of her time - with her nasal voice and tween-pop she was doing what Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus would take to the masses. Sadly Nikki just had an annoying, poxy pop song that sounded like something Britney rejected.

Bwhahaahahahaha. Razz

^No shes posing in mens magazines. Too bad she still looks like a 12 year old.

The worst song was this song called "oh Ah" by Tamara Jaber. She was from this show called Popstars. It was realllllly bad.

"Oh ah, i lost my bra, i left it in my boyfriends car, oh ah, there he goes, and oooops there goes my pantyhose"

We did a dance to it in year 9. Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. LOL.

I would post a link to it, but no ones put it up on Youtube cause its THAT bad.
