Clip of Ja'mie on "Now That's What I Call Comedy" DVD

Post by SmileAWhile on Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:05 pm

I was just flicking through a newspaper and I saw a pic of Ja'mie with her friends in WCBH. So I read the article and it was about Richard Curtis' (who's an absolute legend- Comic Relief founder, producer/writer/director of TV programmes and films e.g Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, Bridget Jones' Diary etc) top 10 out of 37 comedy clips from a DVD which has just been released called "Now That's What I Call Comedy: The Absolute Very Best of Modern Comedy". He chose a clip of Ja'mie in WCBH in his top 10 and said:

This is a hilarious clip from an astonishing Australian genius, somewhere between Peter Sellers and Barry Humphries
- Richard Curtis

Here's the tracklist of the clips as they appear on the DVD:

1. Catherine Tate - Lauren & Tony Blair (Comic Relief 2007)
2. Gavin & Stacey - Bowling
3. Peter Kay's - Britain's Got An Extra Pop Factor...and then
Some - Man I Feel Like a Woman
4. Michael McIntyre - Live & Laughing - Accents
5. Little Britain USA - Lou & Andy go to Church
6. Frank Skinner - Stand-Up - Osama Song
7. That Mitchell & Webb Look - Who let the dogs out?
8. Sean Lock - live - the environment
9. Harry Hill's tv burp - Eastenders (comic relief 2007)
10. Russell Howard Live - Nans & Newspapers
11. QI - The Acropolis
12. Ricky Gervais & Friends - Ricky in Kenya (Comic Relief 2007)
13. Alan Carr - Tooth Fairy Live - Football
14. The Peter Serafinowicz Show - Darth Vader in Love
15. Bill Bailey - Tinselworm - Fur
16. We Can Be Heroes: Finding the Australian of the year
Jamie King

17. Lee Evans - big - live at the 02 self-service checkouts
18. Mock the Week - commercials that never made it to air
19. Flight of the Conchords - Part-time Model
20. Russell Brand's Ponderland - Budgie
21. Lenny Henry - Live at the Apollo - Growing up in Dudley
22. The Thick of it - Shadow Minister receives a makeover
23. Star Stories - Take That - duet
24. Lee Mack live - Glasses
25. The IT Crowd - Friendface
26. Jo Brand - Live at the Apollo - Teenagers
27. The Armstrong & Miller Show - Predictive Text
28. Never Mind the Buzzcocks - Amy & Penny
29. The Mighty Boosh - The Power of the Crimp
30. Jack Dee - Live Again - Bumble Bee
31. Mr Bean - Mr Bean's Wedding (Comic Relief 2007)
32. Jimmy Carr in Concert - A Few Quick Ones
33. Have I Got News For You - Brian Blessed
34. Sacha Baron Cohen - Bruno - Daytona Beach
35. Dara O'Briain - Talks Funny - Magician
36. Harry & Paul Dragon's Den - Augcember
37. The Vicar of Dibley - Wife Swap (Comic Relief 2007)

So if anyone is interested in buying it, it costs £9.99 and at least £2 from each copy goes towards Comic Relief. I'm thinking of getting it myself since there are some really funny moments on it and it's for charity Smile

I'm definatly going to buy this DVD.
I'm a huge fan of Russell Howard especially, I've seen him live twice and have met him after a gig too. He's lovely.
I've been lucky enough to see Dara O Brian, Michael McIntyre and Alan Carr too. I also saw Lee Evans but I didn't think he was that good. But then again that might have something to do with the fact I was so far away!

What newspaper was this in?

This looks really good - definately worth buying. Michael McIntyre is hilarious, not sure how Catherine Tate is number one tho - I dont really find her funny at all.

It was in The Mirror, SuperLoz. You're really lucky to have seen those people. There are some brilliant British stand up comedians (Mock The Week and particular episodes of Live at the Apollo ftw!) Wink. My friend went to see Lee Evans as well. I don't really see the appeal of Lee Evans myself though.

I think Michael McIntyre is hilarious as well, I'm really glad he has become mainstream. I just hope he doesn't become too complacent with his success haha!

Awesome, thanks Smile Loving Little Britain and The Vicar of Dibley on there... the Vicar should be higher though. I think it's one of the best shows EVER.

Just been trying to order this, and its described as a best of British Comedy - which I guess it is other than the WCBH clip. Looks like we've adopted Chris as a Brit then! Very Happy

Yeah Russell Brand is really cool - I saw him do stand up a while back and he was brilliant.

Wonder which Ja'mie clip is on this DVD? Might have to see if I can track it down in my lunch break....

^My guess is the scene she finds out her sponsor kids are dead and goes ape shit at her mum and the woman on the phone.

Yeah i love Russell. He's a smartass and a bit of a bad boy hahaa. My English pal got me hooked on him before he became popular here in Australia so i was sooo happy to see him become mainstream. Very Happy

Yeah - Russell Brand is always in trouble! They've just announced hes doing another radio show here which is bound to be interesting - last time he had a radio show he caused so much trouble - loads of people got sacked and he had to resign!

14. The Peter Serafinowicz Show - Darth Vader in Love is HILARIOUS. The female Darth Vader is so well designed.

Interestingly, Peter Serafinowicz did the voice of Darth Maul and Darth Chef (from South Park). He is such a good impressionist, his vocal ability is amazing. Pity his sketch show wasn't always as good as his You Tube stuff.

Just found the article online with the videos of Richard Curtis' top 10 picks. They used Ja'mie's opening scenes:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/03/02/richard-curtis-picks-his-top-10-funniest-comic-relief-clips-video-115875-21166752/

And yay I love Russell Brand too! He's a fan of Summer Heights High too which he's mentioned in an interview and on his former radio show. The whole 'Sachsgate' scandal was blown way out of proportion by the media! Russell is naturally controversial though, love it!Very Happy
