Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
After seeing Summer Heights High, I did some research and discovered that We Can Be Heroes existed. I wanted to watch it SO bad, but I'm Canadian (eh) and it's not on TV or DVD here. I eventually did manage to find a website where I could download a DVD rip of all the episodes (I don't normally download pirated shows, but I'm Canadian, gimme a break), and I burnt it to a DVD.
So I'm wondering, how many North American fans have seen this show, and, if you have seen it, how did you watch it?

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
I'm from Canada as well and I haven't found a way to watch this show! I've just scoured youtube for clips but that's it. I recently bought SHH which I was thrilled about finding, particularly in my area. I'll have to break down and see if I can order it via internet. It'll be worth it.

Its probably out there on some dodgy file sharing site somewhere! Hope you get to see it properly soon.
There are some good clips on the ABC site if you havent seen them already:

I've uploaded extras from the show on my Youtube channel but thats about it. Hopefully you'll be able to get a copy somewhere. If not try a torrent site, i'm sure someone has uploaded the series to be downloaded somewhere.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
It appeared on the Sundance channel under the different title of "The Nominees." The Sundance channel shows more indie shows and I remember watching the show a while ago. The Sundance channel is a part of paid TV service and not a big channel like HBO that picked up and showed Summer Heights High.
A few clips (some are inactive) can be seen at http://www.sundancechannel.com/videos/230058324
The Australian site is better and has way more clips.
We Can Be Heroes is not available for purchase in the US. I ordered mine from Australia and paid almost as much to ship it as the video cost.
However, a while ago, I did see mention of We Can Be Heroes at http://couchtripper.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=8276.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
I'm actually curious as to when this will be released on DVD in North America. On the US SHH DVD there is a trailer for WCBH, and it's actually titled "We Can Be Heroes", not "The Nominees". Anyone else curious about that trailer? It was as if it were to be released.
I wonder if they will try to run it on cable again, now that SHH has been so successful here.
Anyway, I did something really naughty and obtained it other ways. I didn't actually, but someone else did and gave it to me. But if it were available I would buy it!!! AND WILL ONCE IT COMES OUT!!!!
I have no intent to rip anyone off, I was just DESPERATE to see it! <3 <3 <3

They don't plan on realeasing WCBH in America according to Laura. Which sucks for you guys.
Dude, don't worry about downloading it. I doubt Chris gives a shit LOL. Its not available in your country to buy so what else are you gonna do?
I can buy the special edition DVD of WCBH to anyone who wants it and send it over. Thats no problem.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
I bought the special edition dvd of SHH and WCBH at Christmas as a present to myself, because I figured they wouldn't sell WCBH here. I never spend a good amount of money on myself, but it was so worth it.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
Sooo, even though I'm in the US, I ordered the special edish of WCBH a couple of weeks ago and it came in the mail yesterday. I figured I would just buy a new (cheap) all region dvd player if it didn't work on any of mine. Of course, out of the 3 in the house, it didn't. I go to Best Buy (electronic store) and they tell me they don't sell all region dvd players..ANYWHERE! I was so upset. Luckily, I went to my friend's house and her LAPTOP played it, so I got to watch some eps! I guess I can search amazon, ebay, etc for the player I need but supposedly they only work on HD tvs, not old regular ones. AAAHHH! So theeeen a friend suggested an external dvd drive for my computer. That might have to do. Any suggestions?
This whole different region thing is......the DUMBEST thing ever.
Why not all DVDs play the same and all dvd players work the same? Is it that hard, world?

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
On certain region 1 DVD players you can enter a code on the remote to make it region free. Different players have different codes. You should try googling for your DVD players' codes.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
The reason why we have regional DVD's is so Americans don't get "offended" at other countries sense of humour, hence they can't watch them.

Re: Have North American Fans Seen This Show?
More like it's a money-making scam. But there *shouldn't* be any restrictions on dvd regions in Australia, it legally runs afoul of Australia's free-trade laws. I love me the region 1 dvds, got a fair few of them. Not sure about other countries though.

Get your hands on a program called AnyDVD (search for a torrent), it removes any copyright-protection a dvd has and, most importantly, turns off the region lock, as I think most dvd drives have a certain amount of times they can be switched about the regions.
