Re: Its Been Sent!
HA HA HA!
Yeah... spunk is... umm... semen.
Although 'spunk' is also kinda... guts? Or more... umm... hmm... energy or something. Like "He's got alot of spunk" would mean he's kinda energetic/brave or whatever. But it's kind of gone out of fashion because of the other meaning.
Also, 't**t' isn't like AMAZINGLY rude or anything. I mean, you probably get quite a distorted view, just as I do with some Australian views. But you, know it's more offensive then saying "you're a dick" but less then saying "you're a shit."
Odd conversation.
ANYWAY! Donna I got my loverly Sticker! It's on my macbook now!
Now about the book. Mark's coming down for the weekend and he's gonna read the book when he's hear. He's already read a bit of it, but he'll just do his annotations and stuff and then I can send it straight to the next person.
Is that Vesna?

Re: Its Been Sent!
I know spunk is another tag name for cum, i may not be sexually active myself but i do know slang and stuff used for it, i'm not THAT clueless, give me a bit of credit please. LOL! But it also a term for a good looking guy here hence WHY i said it.
I don't know why there are more UK fans then Australian fans on here but as long as we all support him thats all that matters. I'm just grateful for the fact i now have somewhere to discuss Chris's work properly since hardly anyone knew who he was just 3 years ago.
For the record, say t**t TWAT t**t all you want Camm. If its not racist, sexist or homophobic i couldn't care less what is said. But if members are clearly offended by certain words of course i can put a sensor over them.

Re: Its Been Sent!
Well a lot of words have different means in Australia than in the UK. For example the word 'wog' I've seen you guys use a lot but that's incredibly racist in the UK. Margaret Thatcher's daughter Carole was fired from her job at the BBC for using it off camera. It is derided from 'gollywog' which were little black minstrel like puppets with black faces and red lips from a more... naive time.
So while you say don't use racist or offensive language be warned that words have different meanings.
My take on the reason why there are more British fans on this forum is that I think in Britain, his shows are a bit more of a cult comedy. They were on late night on a digital channel BBC Three which usually just shows dull British reality shows. I think the only reason why it wasn't on BBC Four which shows Flight of the Conchords, The Chaser's War on Everything and other smart foreign comedies was because it was set in a school.
So it became more of a cult show that gathered more and more viewers through word of mouth. I think people are more likely to join a forum or look for info about a show if they feel like it's special to them, that their aren't many other people that know about it. I think in Australia, these shows and Chris Lilley in general are more mainstream. So yeah... I think British fans will seek out a community to discuss the shows more than Australian fans.

Re: Its Been Sent!
I've never really thought of 't**t' as being a swear word since people use it quite casually over here as an insult. There are definitely much harsher things to say. Oh well, we may all be speaking English but the variations of the language around the world is quite interesting.
Well Spune I sent you my details a couple of weeks ago so feel free to send it over when you're done and I can pass it on to Summer afterwards

It does mean that but it's also a derogatory word for mediterranean type looking people like italians, spanish, greeks. But when i first heard Wog on the show i was like :O OMG lol but then my mum said its a bit different over there.

Re: Its Been Sent!
^If you want Heather you could always post some pics with the book and i can include them in the book thing i'm making for this. Its fine with me. If you want to send any notes or anything thats fine aswell, you just gotta let me know about it.
I don't want anyone to feel left out about this. Obviously i'm not going to send my book to someone who just joined a day or two ago but if anyone here wants to send in pictures or notes to be included in this just PM me. I don't bite. I can't stress that enough. Hahaha.
For the record of words and slang here, i think if anything is said that insults a member i don't think it would be used in a manner to directly hurt them as we all get along fine here. I myself have pretty strong bones and don't care if someone decides to have a go at me over the net, but obviously others won't feel the same way. If anything is said here that offends you, just PM me or Spune and we'll remove the post and censor the word.

Re: Its Been Sent!
"bad words" aren't necessarily bad everywhere
i know that in some places it's okay to see words than over here. Like, someone mentioned t**t? Well, to me that's a derogatory word for vagina but i'm sure you in the UK use it all the time and it's not any worse than saying stupid or hell or damn

I used t**t in one of my earlier posts here but was happy enough to see it with asterisks. It's perfectly understandable when there's other countries to consider. In Scotland it is used mainly for a 'silly person' or 'idiot', despite the word deriving from ladies' bits! Tw**ted is also another name for a smack. In fact, one of my favourite books is called My boyfriend Is A T**t. The author originally wrote a diary of him on Blogger and she was picked up by publishers scanning the internet for such like material.

On the subject of c**t. I was watching the British show "My New Best Friend", and was surprised to see that although c**t was bleeped out, the F-word was not.

Re: Its Been Sent!
I think in Australia we'd go as far to say that c**t is worse than the F-word. That's the way I see it anyway. But yeah, t**t is no worse here than saying 'stupid', so it's weird for me to bleep it, but then again I never use it in everyday conversation; it's more of a British word.

C--t and motherf--ker are the only 2 words that can never be said on UK tv.
I once heard the "C-word" uncensored on the radio in Aus, it was hilarious.
