Fuck you Queensland!
A BID is in progress to lure Melbourne's famous Logies award show to Queensland.
Tourism officials in the Sunshine State are trying to take the ceremony - Australia's biggest red-carpet event - to the Gold Coast.
TV Week, which stages the television awards show each year, said it was in "informal" talks with representatives in Queensland about the 2010 event.
Tourism Queensland is believed to have made the first move to shift the event, which has been held in Melbourne for 43 out of its 50 years.
But TV Week says it is not seeking government subsidies, making it unclear why the magazine would consider taking the awards from their spiritual home.
Since 1997, the awards have been held at Crown - a good fit, with the Packer family involved in Crown, TV Week and broadcaster Channel 9.
But with James Packer now holding only a small interest in PBL Media - parent company of Nine and ACP, which owns TV Week - the link has been weakened.
Logies great Bert Newton said: "I think Melbourne is the home of the Logies.
"But the one thing about television in Australia today is that it's national.
"The days of locally made television are gone, with a couple of exceptions. So if it moves, it moves."
Vega breakfast host Ian Dickson joked about the Sunshine State's ability to host the event.
"Australia is such a massive country, we should spread the love with the other states," he said.
"We'd all love to see how Brisbane or the Gold Coast can stuff it up."
PBL Media chief executive Ian Law said there was a "possibility" the Logies would move and "some incentive" had been offered.
Possible Gold Coast venues include Conrad Jupiter's Casino and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It'll happen.

NOOO! i agree with Bert - Melbourne is the home town of the logies. It's UNNATURAL to move it to Queensland! Don't worry V, you'll meet him. I'm sure he'll do some more signings after his new project comes out.
