Donna.S2 wrote:Anyway I just watched The Zodiac. OMG brilliant if you like murder mysteries. It's a true story, amazing. Highly recommended - both the old and the remake. I think the first one is better though.
I wouldn't call the 2007 version of Zodiac a "remake", its just that both films are a different take on a true story. I'm surprised you liked the 2005 version so much, I think the David Fincher version is way more suspenseful & interesting, closer to reality too, it was based on a book written by the journalist Jake Gyllenhaal played. The 2005 version was straight to DVD & is average at best IMO.
I just watched Burn After Reading - so good. I love the Coen brothers & Brad Pitt is hysterical!

Re: what was the last movie you watched
This is gonna be really surprising (well not really) but i wasn't a fan of Zodiac either. I've seen the 2007 film with Jake in it and it bored the shit out of me. I thought the plot dragged on for too long and it made me wanna fall asleep.
I still think the best movie i've seen in a few years is Gran Tranio. Such a great movie.
I seem to dislike more things then like on here hahahaa. But i'm not that negative, believe me.

stupidmeatball wrote:I saw Watchmen on Thursday night. Incredible visual effects, Snyder has made a film that looks like the comic has burst onto the screen. If you aren't a fan of the graphic novel it may be a little hard to get into, but is a very enjoyable fil, and will require a few watches to pick up on all the details. I'm hoping that the director's cut gets a theatrical release, but as it has gone gangbusters at the box office without using a bankable movie star I'm pretty sure that Warner Brothers will release it at the movie to ring a few more bucks out of it. Just be warned that this isn't a kids movie and isn't your standard superhero film either. It's infact the anti-superhero movie, basically deconstructing what makes a hero, etc. There's also a few sex scenes to keep people's attention if the moody atmosphere of the movie is boring you.
Just a quick plot run-down if anybody needs it: In 1985 all non-government sanctioned superheroes have been outlawed and a Vietnam-era ex-superhero called the Comedian is murdered in his apartment. A moody detective superhero callled Rorschach starts to investigate and concludes that there is a "mask-killer" on the loose. Without giving much away the story follows his investigation of the murder.
If your aren't familar with the comic there's a montage at the beginning which is absolutely beautiful to look at, and explains the history of this fictional universe, plus a lot of flashbacks throughout the film help with the story also. It's a long one, so I suggest going to the toilet before going in, because if you miss anything it may be hard to keep up with.
Thanks for the rundown! Lots of people are really interested in this film but I didn't really know what it's about. Sounds very interesting though. I think I might be going to see it in a couple of weeks with my friends when we break for the holidays.

^ Awww
I just saw the Legally Blonde movies. I know they might be a bit... you know but I really like them and I find them really inspiring. Just coz she's not expected to do so well and she proves everyone wrong.

Watchmen was amazing. They managed to get everything important into the film without it feeling too cut down or... well... 6 hours long.
And Slumdog Millionaire is great. It's not really a feel good film like the poster claims, trying to lure in the Mamma Mia market but it's still fantastic. Beautifully shot, gritty and fairy-tale-like.

I'd have to say that The Departed is one of the greatest films of this decade. Scorsese is a genius.

I watched 'Notting Hill' last night on ITV. I don't know why but I hadn't seen it before despite how popular it is. It was a cool film and easy to watch

I watched Wall-E a couple nights ago. Brilliant. I cry every time they are "dancing" outside the Axiom with the fire extinguisher. Makes me happy.

Beautiful film. I well up when the titles come on and you see the Earth in ruins. It makes me so sad and I have no idea why. It's partly the fantastic music in that film.
